In ancient cultures woman was revered as Goddess, Priestess and healer. Our sexual energy
was believed to be the mystical blood of creation, our bodies the vessel through which all of life
was birthed. Now days, in our 21st century, fast paced, technology filled world, we are left to
wonder why we find it difficult to feel our sex as sacred, our spirit as divine.
As conscious women, we are now tasked with the reality that we hold within our bodies the
genetic imprint of all the travesties perpetuated on our collective, intuitive, "sacred feminine"
selves, as well as the memories of the physical and emotional traumas, and the residues of
abuse and disempowerment we have experienced in our individual lives. Unfortunately, our
friends, family, the media, and sometimes even our faith organizations, may only perpetuate our
feelings of emptiness.
We are assaulted on every level with images, written and spoken words.....even music, that
carry a message that women are "less than", "undeserving", or "eye candy," and "objects" to be
used for someone else's pleasure. If we are lucky enough to have established a loving
relationship, our inspiration and energy for creating bliss with our partner is often robbed by our
duties as wife, mother, maid, chauffeur, cook, and "chief bottle washer" - just to name a few.
So, we shop, we garden, we craft, we manage our careers. Then...we go to the gym, or
commiserate with our dearest girlfriends (if we can find the time), in an attempt to connect with
this lost part of who we are. Sometimes, we find it easier just to shut down sexually. Or, we
isolate ourselves in an attempt to run away from the constant over stimulation and lack of
balance.
